Choosing a tech gadget as a gift for your partner on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, is becoming a new trend in the market. Recognizing this, many retail chains have launched promotional campaigns to stimulate demand.
A survey by Dân trí reporters shows that many product lines such as headphones, smartwatches, and tablets are seeing significant price reductions.
Specifically, smartwatches are being discounted by 15-60%. Notable examples include the Kieslect Lora smartwatch with a $900,000 price cut (now priced at $590,000), the Huawei Watch GT4 reduced by nearly $3 million (now $3,990,000), and the Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 available at a promotional price of $1,190,000.
The highest discounts are mainly on products from brands like Huawei, Xiaomi, or Garmin.
For higher-end products like the Apple Watch, good deals are also available, with discounts ranging from $1 to $3 million depending on the model.
The headphone category sees price cuts of up to 76%. For example, the Sony WH-1000XM4 Bluetooth over-ear headphones are now priced at $4,990,000 (a reduction of nearly $2 million), the JBL Live Pro 2 True Wireless Bluetooth earbuds are available for $2,290,000 (down over $1 million), and the Redmi Buds 4 Lite costs $390,000 (original price $790,000).
Nguyễn Quang Trường (25), a communications employee in Hanoi, shared: “This Valentine’s Day, I want to buy wireless earbuds as a gift. Instead of flowers, I’ll choose something practical that my partner can use long-term.”
Newer models of Apple AirPods, which are popular among young people, aren’t seeing major discounts this season, with price cuts ranging from $200,000 to $1 million. Meanwhile, older models enjoy higher discounts of up to $2 million.
Portable speakers are seeing price reductions of $500,000 to $2 million.
A representative from a retail chain said: “Historical data shows that February 14th sees a significant spike in gift purchases across our system, even without specific promotions. Among Apple products, AirPods and Apple Watch are the most sought-after items.
During Valentine’s Week 2024, sales of Apple Watches increased by 70% compared to the average weekly sales in Q1. AirPods also recorded a 30% growth during the same period.”
According to the representative, attractive pricing has been introduced for Apple Watches and AirPods this holiday season. Additionally, to meet diverse gifting needs, iPads and Macs will also see competitive pricing to boost sales.
It’s clear that the demand for tech accessories, especially smartwatches, as meaningful and practical gifts for loved ones tends to rise significantly in the days leading up to Valentine’s Day.
