A Vietnamese citizen from Thanh Hoa province is being held hostage and forced to work in Cambodia. The Thanh Hoa Provincial Police have reported the incident, and the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs is working with relevant authorities to resolve the situation and protect the citizen.
According to the Thanh Hoa Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs, on February 7th, they received a notice from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police regarding assistance for Mr. T.V.V. (born 1999), residing in Dong Vinh Commune, Thanh Hoa City.
The incident occurred in Khum Ou Bei Choan, Ou Chrov District, Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia. Mr. T.V.V. is being held against his will, forced to work, and has been demanded to pay a ransom.
Given the seriousness of the situation, the Thanh Hoa Department of Foreign Affairs has requested the Bureau of Consular Affairs to report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and related agencies to collaborate with Cambodian authorities in resolving the matter. They are also guiding Mr. T.V.V.’s family through necessary procedures to protect the citizen facing difficulties abroad.
