In the Lunar New Year film Yeu Nham Ban Than directed by Diệp Thế Vinh and Nguyễn Quang Dũng, Thanh Sơn plays Vũ Trần, a talented music director and the boyfriend of Bình An (played by Kaity Nguyễn). Tran Ngoc Vang portrays Bảo Toàn, Bình An’s best friend who has been secretly in love with her for 10 years but has never been reciprocated.
Tense Relationship on Screen
The trailer of Yeu Nham Ban Than reveals many tense moments between the characters played by Thanh Sơn and Tran Ngoc Vang. Bảo Toàn feels bitter watching Bình An and her boyfriend together, but he only dares to confront his rival in imagination. This adds drama and excitement to the film.
Tran Ngoc Vang shared that although they are rivals on screen, off-screen they are very close. The three main actors of the film are young, friendly, and easy to get along with, making it easy for them to bond. Every day on set is filled with laughter and joy.
“On screen, we are rivals, but behind the scenes, we are good brothers. We get along well and often hang out together, so much that the crew started pairing us up as a couple. I admire Thanh Son because he is kind and sincere. Before, I had seen some of his films and was impressed by his talent. So, when I got the chance to collaborate with him, I was very excited,” Tran Ngoc Vang said.
Thanh Son’s Southern Journey
Yeu Nham Ban Than marks Thanh Son’s first move to the south. Tran Ngoc Vang mentioned that he is always ready to support and accompany Thanh Son, helping his colleague adapt to the film industry and entertainment scene in the south.
This year’s Tet holiday, both Tran Ngoc Vang and Thanh Son celebrated Tet in Ho Chi Minh City for the first time. The Gen Z actor believes he will create many memorable moments with his co-stars during this journey.
“In previous years, no matter how busy I was, I would return home to my parents by the 28th of December at the latest. I always thought celebrating Tet away from home would be sad. But this year, I don’t feel sad; I’m just a little anxious about whether Yeu Nham Ban Than will attract many moviegoers,” Tran Ngoc Vang expressed.
