Journey from Abandonment to Reuse

In 2020, the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital in Ninh Binh moved to a new, larger facility with 900 modern beds. Since then, the old site has been left unused and has severely deteriorated. This situation persisted for several years, leading to wasted public assets and urban aesthetic degradation.

In July 2024, the Ninh Binh Provincial People’s Council approved a resolution on investing in the renovation project of the Traditional Medicine Hospital on part of the old site. This project includes 200 beds and a total investment of 120 billion VND, expected to be completed by 2026.

Mr. Nguyen Van A, leader of the Construction Management Board for Civil and Industrial Projects in Ninh Binh Province, shared that the project is in the technical preparation stage and promises to bring a new look to the area.

Significance of the Reuse Decision

The reallocation of land and infrastructure from the old Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital not only addresses the issue of wasted public assets but also contributes to the development of healthcare in the locality. Specifically, the construction of a new Traditional Medicine Hospital will help meet the growing demand for medical services among residents.

Additionally, transferring part of the area to the Hoa Lu City People’s Committee opens up opportunities to improve the administrative system and public services, enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Conclusion

After years of abandonment, the fate of the old Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital in Ninh Binh has finally been decided. Reasonable reuse of public assets not only saves budget but also brings tangible benefits to the community. This marks an important step in Ninh Binh’s sustainable development strategy.
