In her first marriage, she spent 10 years with two children. The actress shared that she endured many hardships during her time with her ex-husband but found immense joy in raising her two healthy children, whom she considers her greatest treasure.
Her second marriage to singer Koo Jun Yup lasted three years, filled with happiness and sweetness. They had loved each other for many years before parting ways due to career reasons. After 24 years apart, they reunited and got married, continuing their unfinished love story.
Friends describe Elva as having a kind heart, loving life, and being resilient and clear-minded when it comes to relationships. She often shares insights that inspire deep reflection.
“Happiness requires effort and sacrifice; there’s no such thing as a group of people who always win in life,” Elva said in an interview 20 years ago.
Speaking to Taiwan Vogue in 2022, she said, “Life is short; I don’t want to dwell too much on the past,” when asked about her sudden remarriage to DJ Koo Jun Yup shortly after announcing her divorce from her first husband.

When asked about love, she said, “If a man says he loves you as deep as the sea, he actually only loves you as deep as a puddle. Don’t listen to him; feel with your heart.”
“Everything happens unpredictably, so I always face life with an open mind. Whether happy or disappointed, I remind myself not to run away from my emotions. Embrace everything life throws at you,” Elva shared her outlook on life.
“As long as I set my mind to something, nothing can stop me. When I decide to lose weight, I will definitely succeed,” Elva responded to criticism about her post-pregnancy weight gain. She had faced ridicule after giving birth.
“Women should always find time to do what they love to achieve balance. Cherish your soul, understand what you like, and strive to be the person you want to be,” Elva advises on becoming a modern woman.
“Some people you know for years still feel distant, while others you meet for the first time feel like old friends—this is called fate,” she reflects on the connections in life.
“The more you give in love, the more painful it is when it ends,” Elva concluded after experiencing two broken relationships.
“After a breakup, I usually delete all contact information, messages, emails, and photos related to my ex. I don’t want to cause complications in new relationships. Avoid holding onto ambiguous feelings, especially in matters of the heart,” Elva advised when questioned about her relationships with exes.

“No matter how tough the situation, I never fall. I believe the world after death is beautiful; no matter how big the problem, we end up dying anyway. So, while alive, I follow my thoughts and do as I please,” Elva told friends and media when discussing life’s challenges.
“I know there might come a time when I can’t move anymore, so I often write down my thoughts and wishes for my loved ones. Having nearly died once, I see each day as my last. I never feel sad thinking about death,” she shared when asked about mortality.
“The funeral I hope for must be joyful and filled with laughter. Everyone should drink my favorite champagne and enjoy delicious food. Please don’t cry when you attend,” Elva instructed friends and family years ago.
