Reflecting on the hardships of Tet in her family’s past, Thu Huyen shared: “Back then, my father often made peanut candy to serve guests. I vividly remember Tet during the subsidy period when we could only afford new clothes every few years. On regular days, we didn’t have meat; we had to save ration stamps to buy ingredients for making Chung cakes at the end of the year.”
