On January 27, the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security announced the traffic accident situation and violation handling statistics for the 28th day of腊月(February 27). Nationwide, there were 52 traffic accidents, resulting in 26 deaths and 36 injuries. During the day, national traffic police forces conducted over 7,500 inspections and handled more than 7,500 violations, generating nearly 20 billion VND in fines. Specifically, they impounded 47 cars, nearly 3,300 motorcycles, 65 other vehicles, revoked 428 driving licenses, and demerit points from 686 cases.

Notably, alcohol-related violations accounted for a high proportion, with over 1,800 cases. Additionally, traffic police handled more than 1,700 speeding violations, 20 cases of overloaded cargo, 9 cases of oversized vehicles, 71 cases of exceeding passenger limits, and 10 cases related to drug use.

The Traffic Police Department also reported that on the 28th day of腊月, highway traffic police units inspected and issued citations for 78 violations, with an estimated fine revenue of approximately 3.233 million VND. Furthermore, through surveillance cameras on highways, traffic police detected 19 violations.

These figures reflect the efforts of traffic police in ensuring road safety, especially during Tet. However, many challenges remain, requiring close collaboration between relevant agencies and improved public compliance with traffic laws.

The reduction in accidents and violations compared to the same period last year is a positive sign, but continuous preventive measures are needed to ensure road safety during the upcoming Tet holiday.
