Traffic Accidents Drop Significantly on the First Day of Tet Holiday

On January 25th, the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security announced information regarding traffic accidents on the first day of the 2025 Tet holiday. Nationwide, there were 47 traffic accidents, resulting in 27 deaths and 31 injuries.

Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of accidents, fatalities, and injuries all saw a significant decrease. Specifically, the number of accidents dropped by 33, the number of deaths decreased by 16, and the number of injuries reduced by 26. This is a positive signal in ensuring traffic safety during the Tet holiday.

Traffic Violation Enforcement

On the first day of the holiday, traffic police across the country handled 8,870 traffic violations. Specifically, they impounded 40 cars, over 2,400 motorcycles, and 81 other vehicles. Additionally, nearly 650 driver’s licenses were revoked, and more than 870 cases had points deducted from their licenses. Notably, over 1,900 cases involved alcohol consumption.

Traffic order was maintained steadily, with no prolonged traffic jams on major routes.

Traffic Conditions in Major Cities

Hanoi

From the afternoon of January 24th, the number of vehicles leaving Hanoi for provinces increased, leading to congestion on many routes. Major roads such as Ring Road 3, Ring Road 2, and central routes like National Highway 5, Cổ Linh, Nguyễn Văn Cừ, Chương Dương Bridge, Vĩnh Tuy Bridge, and Nguyễn Khoái embankment all saw heavy traffic. However, vehicles moved slowly without causing severe congestion.

Ho Chi Minh City and Surrounding Areas

In Ho Chi Minh City and nearby areas, traffic on the HCM – Long Thành – Dầu Giây and HCM – Trung Lương – Mỹ Thuận expressways increased significantly. Vehicles moved slowly but did not cause notable traffic jams.

Rach My Bridge

On the afternoon of January 24th, Rach My Bridge saw a sharp increase in vehicle numbers. Traffic police from Tiền Giang and Bến Tre provinces actively regulated and rerouted traffic to prevent congestion.
