In the 6-day Tet holiday from January 25 to January 30, the country recorded over 308 traffic accidents, resulting in 137 fatalities and 257 injuries. Compared to the same period last year, the number of accidents, deaths, and injuries all significantly decreased.

Significant Reduction in Traffic Accidents
According to statistics from the Traffic Police Department (Cục CSGT – Ministry of Public Security), the number of traffic accidents during the 6-day Tet holiday decreased by 189 incidents (38.03%), with 101 fewer deaths (42.44%) and 167 fewer injuries (39.39%) compared to the same period in 2022. This is a positive signal in ensuring traffic safety during the Tet holiday.
Strict Handling of Traffic Violations
During this period, national traffic police forces inspected and handled nearly 37,900 traffic violations. Specifically, they impounded almost 270 cars, over 12,600 motorcycles, and 320 other vehicles. Additionally, over 2,000 driving licenses were revoked, and more than 4,100 cases had points deducted from their licenses.
The main violations included:
- Over 10,100 cases of alcohol intoxication
- Over 9,100 cases of speeding
- 93 cases of overloaded cargo
- Over 300 cases of exceeding passenger limits
- 66 cases of drug-related offenses
Traffic Situation on the Second Day of Tet
On January 30 (the second day of Tet), the country experienced 50 traffic accidents, causing 25 deaths and 50 injuries. Compared to the same day last year, the number of accidents decreased by 41, with 9 fewer deaths and 31 fewer injuries.
On the same day, local traffic police forces handled over 3,300 violations, impounding 36 cars, nearly 1,600 motorcycles, and 25 other vehicles. Furthermore, over 190 driving licenses were revoked, and more than 420 cases had points deducted from their licenses.
The primary violations on the second day of Tet included:
- Over 1,400 cases of alcohol intoxication
- Over 560 cases of speeding
- 1 case of overloaded cargo
- 6 cases of drug-related offenses
