On April 11th, Ho Chi Minh City police are investigating the cause of a fatal traffic accident involving a truck and a motorcycle, resulting in the deaths of a mother and her son on Hoàng Cầm street in Linh Xuân Ward, Thủ Đức City. The victims were 41-year-old V.H.D. and her 6-year-old son, Đ.Q.Q.

Dashcam footage from the involved truck shows Mrs. D. riding a motorcycle with her son on the right side of the truck.

At the intersection of Hoàng Cầm street and street number 5 in Linh Xuân Ward, Thủ Đức City, Mrs. D. attempted to turn left, colliding with the front of the truck, causing her and her son to fall onto the road. Both were fatally struck by the truck’s wheels.

Mr. Đ.V.B., the 41-year-old husband of the deceased, and a native of Cà Mau, confirmed that the couple worked as laborers and rented a room on street number 8 (Linh Xuân Ward).

On the evening of April 10th, while working overtime at his company, Mr. B. received a call from neighbors informing him about the accident and describing the motorcycle lying beneath the truck, matching his wife’s vehicle. He then asked a female neighbor to investigate and confirm the victims were indeed his wife and son.

Mrs. H., the sister of Mr. B., described the tragic circumstances of the family. Mrs. D., originally from Bạc Liêu, had lost both parents at a young age and had worked tirelessly throughout her life. When Mr. B. and Mrs. D. married, only one uncle from the bride’s side attended the ceremony, with the groom’s family handling all the arrangements. Contacting the uncle regarding funeral arrangements proved impossible, as his phone number was no longer in service, leading the family to repatriate the bodies to Đầm Dơi District, Cà Mau for burial.

Mr. B. and Mrs. D. married later in life, and their only child was their 6-year-old son.

On the afternoon of April 10th, Mrs. D. went to work, then picked up her son. Sadly, this short trip ended tragically on the road.

Witnesses at the scene reported that at approximately 2:30 PM on April 10th, a separate accident occurred at the same location, involving a truck and a motorcycle, resulting in a woman sustaining serious leg injuries. Hours later, the fatal accident involving Mrs. D. and her son occurred.

The collision caused the two occupants of the motorcycle to fall onto the road, where they were fatally struck by the truck’s wheels.
