On February 9, the Traffic Police Department of Đắk Nông Provincial Police confirmed that they had summoned a truck driver who violated traffic regulations to work after intentionally failing to yield to a vehicle attempting to overtake when conditions were safe.
Previously, a clip circulated on Facebook showing a truck with license plate 48C-125.97 moving slowly on Ho Chi Minh Road, through Đắk R’lấp district, and repeatedly blocking vehicles from behind attempting to pass.
The frustrated driver of the vehicle behind recorded the incident and posted it on social media, attracting significant attention and outrage from the online community regarding the truck driver’s behavior.
Upon receiving the information, authorities quickly summoned driver Nguyễn Xuân T. (31 years old, residing in Gia Nghĩa City) to the police station to clarify the incident.
At the police station, driver T. admitted to his full violation. He stated that on the afternoon of February 7, he was assigned to drive the truck from Đắk Nông to Ho Chi Minh City to pick up goods.
While driving, he noticed a passenger bus and another truck ahead. He signaled to overtake but was unsuccessful because the truck in front accelerated.
After the passenger bus yielded, driver T. overtook and then retaliated against the other truck by driving slowly in sections with solid median lines and quickly in sections with broken median lines, aiming to prevent the truck behind from passing.
Driver T. expressed remorse for his actions and pledged not to repeat the offense. For this behavior, he was ticketed by the police and had his driver’s license temporarily confiscated as per regulations.
