On February 15, the leader of Da Nang Railway Transport Branch under Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company addressed a controversial clip that had been widely discussed online. The clip allegedly showed a Japanese female tourist being “bullied” while traveling by train.
Previously, social media circulated a video from a Japanese travel YouTuber documenting her experience aboard the Da Nang – Hue railway line. The tourist had purchased ticket number 5, which was supposed to be a window seat, but upon boarding, she was asked by staff to move to an inside seat.

In the clip, the tourist attempted to communicate in Japanese, while the staff used gestures to explain the situation, but their efforts failed, leaving the tourist in tears.
Many comments below the video accused railway staff of bullying the tourist, while others suspected it might have been a misunderstanding.
According to the leader of Da Nang Railway Transport Branch, the incident actually occurred in March 2024 but was recently reposted by social media accounts for “clickbait.” The company has requested these platforms remove the content.
Explaining the situation, the branch leader stated that the tourist had booked a ticket for March 18, 2024, on train SE6, a soft-seat class ticket for the Da Nang – Hue route. However, she boarded the train on March 16, leading staff to ask her to change seats — not an act of “bullying.”
Due to regional accents and language barriers, both parties failed to understand each other. Following the incident, the company required all employees to review the situation and avoid similar misunderstandings with tourists in the future.
Additionally, all train staff were instructed to install translation apps on their phones to assist communication with foreign passengers, preventing similar unpleasant incidents moving forward.
