On April 17, a local official from Tam Dân commune, Phú Ninh district, Quảng Nam province, told Dân trí that around 4 pm, residents discovered the body of a young boy in the Phú Ninh irrigation canal running through Tam Dân.
Seeing the child, who was under two years old (born in 2024), unable to travel far, and deceased, residents suspected foul play and continued searching. They found a motorbike and some documents on the bank.
After about 20 minutes of searching, residents located the body of a woman in the canal, approximately 300 meters from the child’s body, in Phú Thịnh town.
The woman was later identified as B.T.L. (born in 1993, residing in Lâm Mộc ward, Phú Thịnh town, Phú Ninh district), the child’s mother.
According to the Tam Dân commune leader, Ms. L.’s family was facing significant financial hardship.
