U22 Vietnam Striker Breaks Silence on Controversial Goal vs. Laos

Tiền đạo U22 Việt Nam nói về bàn thắng gây tranh cãi ở trận gặp U22 Lào

Dinh Bac scored twice, as U22 Vietnam secured a comfortable win against U22 Laos.

Quoc Viet was at the center of the controversy surrounding U22 Vietnam’s second goal against U22 Laos yesterday (December 3). When Dinh Bac unleashed a shot that found the back of the net in the 60th minute, Quoc Viet was the player who jumped to avoid the ball.

The first assistant referee raised the flag, signaling Quoc Viet was in an offside position. However, the head referee determined that Quoc Viet did not interfere with the play and did not obstruct the U22 Laos goalkeeper. Consequently, the goal was awarded to U22 Vietnam.

Responding to questions about the goal during U22 Vietnam’s training session today, Quoc Viet shared: “Honestly, at that moment, the whole team reacted based on their feelings. Many of us didn’t think the head referee would overturn the assistant referee’s decision. We’re very happy the goal was recognized for U22 Vietnam.”

“The first match is always difficult, but Coach Kim Sang Sik told us that getting three points is the most important thing. It’s a bit regrettable that I couldn’t score in yesterday’s match,” Quoc Viet added.

U22 Vietnam’s next opponent at SEA Games 33 will be U22 Malaysia, a familiar rival for Vietnamese football.

Quoc Viet commented on the upcoming match: “I have faced Malaysian youth teams many times, so I feel very confident when playing against them. U22 Vietnam’s goal against U22 Malaysia is to secure three points.”

Currently, U22 Vietnam has one injured player, midfielder Xuan Bac. However, the injury to the player from Viettel FC is not too serious. Xuan Bac is expected to return to the field within the next 2-3 days.
