Vietnamese football is entering a new phase with both challenges and opportunities. To mark the beginning of 2025, we had a conversation with Mr. Tran Anh Tu, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Chairman of the Vietnam Professional Football Corporation (VPF), and Head of the National Team at the 2024 AFF Cup, to delve deeper into the development strategy for Vietnamese football in the coming year.

Overcoming Challenges and Notable Achievements in 2024
2024 was a year of significant challenges but also notable successes for Vietnamese football. Mr. Tran Anh Tu highlighted that the most important achievement was the innovation in international relations and cooperation.
VFF actively participated in collaboration activities with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), FIFA, and regional organizations, enhancing the standing of Vietnamese football on the international stage. The “Community Youth Football” award given by AFC to VFF is a clear testament to these efforts.
On the international front, Vietnamese teams achieved impressive results. The men’s futsal team won a silver medal at the Southeast Asian Games, the women’s futsal team secured a gold medal, the U23 team reached the quarter-finals of the U23 Asian Championship, and the U17 team qualified for the 2025 U17 Asian Finals. These milestones underscore the remarkable progress of Vietnamese football.
