Vietnam Women’s Futsal Team Poised for Success at Asian Championship

Đội tuyển futsal nữ Việt Nam rộng cửa tiến xa tại giải vô địch châu Á

Vietnam’s women’s futsal team, coached by Nguyễn Đình Hoàng, is in Group B of the 2025 Asian Women’s Futsal Championship, alongside Iran, Hong Kong (China), and the Philippines.

While Iran, the current champions, are theoretically the strongest team in the group, the gap between their level of play and other teams in Asia is not as significant as in men’s futsal or football.

Hong Kong and the Philippines, the other two teams in Group B, are considered weaker compared to the Vietnamese team under Coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng.

Theoretically, the most competitive group is Group C, which includes Japan (current runners-up), Thailand, Indonesia, and Bahrain. Group A consists of China (hosts), Uzbekistan, Taiwan, and Australia.

The 2025 Asian Women’s Futsal Championship finals will take place from May 7 to May 18 in China. The host city has not been officially announced, but it is likely to be Hohhot, located in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

According to the regulations, the top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-place finishers, will advance to the quarter-finals. From the quarter-finals onwards, matches will be played in a knockout format with a single round.

The 2025 Asian Women’s Futsal Championship also serves as a qualifying tournament for this year’s World Cup. If the World Cup hosts, the Philippines, reach the semi-finals, the remaining three teams in the Asian semi-finals will automatically qualify for the World Cup.

In the event that the Philippines do not reach the semi-finals, the champions, runners-up, and third-place teams from the Asian Championship will secure spots in the World Cup. In this scenario, the third-place match in the Asian Championship would serve as a play-off for a World Cup spot.
