Vietnam is actively participating in the rescue and humanitarian aid efforts in Myanmar following a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake on March 28th. Vietnam’s rescue team has been deploying various effective activities, from searching for trapped individuals to providing medical assistance and essential supplies to the affected population.

Rescuing Trapped Victims

Following reports on April 2nd, Vietnam’s People’s Army rescue team at Ottara Thiri Hospital received information about a victim trapped under the rubble of the Aye Chan Thar Hotel, approximately 20 kilometers away. Immediately, Vietnam’s engineering team, collaborating with Turkish and Myanmar rescue forces, launched a swift rescue operation. Mr. Thep Maung Maung, the hotel’s chef, was successfully rescued after five days of being trapped. He was conscious and only needed water and food.

Search and Rescue Operations in Other Areas

Simultaneously, Vietnamese rescue personnel are actively searching for other victims at the Ottara Thiri private hospital, where it’s estimated 14 to 20 people may be trapped.

Humanitarian Aid: Shelters and Medical Care

The aid effort extends beyond rescue, focusing on stabilizing the lives of Myanmar citizens. The Vietnam Ministry of Public Security deployed personnel to erect temporary shelters for displaced people in makeshift camps, where tens of thousands are living in extremely harsh conditions.

Vietnamese medical teams are providing medical checkups and distributing medication to the injured. These humanitarian efforts are deeply appreciated by the Myanmar people.

Conclusion

The earthquake in Myanmar has caused significant loss of life and property. Vietnam, with its humanitarian spirit and international responsibility, is relentlessly working to assist the Myanmar people in overcoming these challenges. The support and sharing from the international community are crucial during this time.
