On December 1, 2024, Vinh City officially expanded its administrative boundaries, in accordance with Resolution 1243/NQ-UBTVQH15. The entire area and population of Cửa Lò Town, along with four villages from Nghi Lộc District, were integrated, creating a new urban center with a “riverfront, coastal” orientation, rich in economic, political, and cultural potential. Simultaneously with the boundary expansion, Vinh City completed the restructuring of its Party organization, government machinery, and social organizations within a month. On December 31, 2024, the new Vinh City and City Party Committee were formally established.
