On February 4th, Singapore’s SBS Transit shared this incident on social media. On bus route 58 connecting Bishan and Pasir Ris, a passenger noticed a forgotten backpack and informed driver Chen Long.
The 42-year-old male driver contacted the control center and learned that a passenger had reported losing a backpack about 25 minutes earlier. After his shift, Driver Chen delivered the backpack to the center, where staff found over $262,000 in cash inside. They promptly reached out to the owner.

Approximately 30 minutes later, the owner arrived to reclaim her belongings. She mentioned she had intended to deposit the money at the bank but forgot it on the bus.
“I am extremely relieved to find everything intact! I am grateful to all the staff who helped me recover my belongings. I wish the bus team the very best in their work,” she said.
Driver Chen expressed his joy at being able to return the lost items, imagining how distressed the passenger must have been. “It was the right thing to do,” he stated.
Grace Wu, spokesperson for SBS Transit, highlighted the dedication of Driver Chen, which exemplifies the company’s CARES culture (Care, Adaptability, Reliability, Environmental Friendliness, Safety, Security).
“His actions reflect high responsibility, reliability, and exemplary task completion,” Grace Wu noted.
