Selfridges (400 Oxford Street): Selfridges is widely considered to be the definitive English department store, and has an illustrious history – having been opened in 1909 by Harry Gordon Selfridge (or Mr Selfridge if you’ve seen the TV show based on his life)˳ One of the best places to shop, it’s a short distance away from London’s Mayfair district on the world famous Oxford Street˳ Whether you’re looking for high-end designer clothing, the latest gadgets for the home, or a quirky gift for a loved one – Selfridges will have you well-catered for˳

Prestat (14 Princes Arcade): Again, you’ll have to walk from London’s Mayfair district to get to this particular establishment, but if you have a sweet tooth – it’s well worth the effort˳ Prestat is one of the oldest sweet shops in the capital˳ It was founded back at the turn of the 20th century by Antoine Dufour – himself formerly a chocolatier to Napoleon III)˳ With vibrant hues, sweet smells, and the Queen amongst its many admirers, Prestat is a wonderful place to visit if you’re looking to pick up a gift for a loved one˳
