Regarding the incident, more than 50 students of Kim Giang Primary School showed signs of poisoning, abdominal pain, and nausea after a picnic, talking to the press at noon on March 29, doctor Nguyen Thanh Nam – director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention˳ Pediatric Center, Bach Mai Hospital – Information on the evening of March 28, the hospital received emergency care for 38 children˳

No major changes

“Children were admitted to the hospital in a state of vomiting, fatigue, some children went outside˳ Through information extraction, the group of children ate lunch during the field trip˳ After about 2 hours, some children began to have symptoms˳ vomit˳

After emergency treatment, many children were discharged from the hospital and went home to be monitored overnight˳ Currently, 5 children are continuing to be monitored at the hospital, but their condition is stable and not serious˳

Currently, the hospital is conducting tests to clarify the cause of this condition,” said Dr˳ Nam˳

At Dong Da Hospital, on the evening of March 28, 7 students from Kim Giang Primary School were also admitted to the hospital in a state of vomiting, fatigue, and defecation˳

Doctor Duong Thanh Son – head of emergency department, Dong Da General Hospital – said that initially, suspected the children had food poisoning˳ The doctors conducted emergency, intravenous fluids, antibiotics, some children are stable˳

“Of the 7 students being treated at the hospital, 5 are stable and can be discharged from the hospital, while the other 2 may need further monitoring˳ In these cases, when tested for white blood cells, the inflammatory index in the body is slightly high˳ Therefore, it is necessary to continue taking antibiotics,” said Dr˳ Son˳

Mai Thi Quyen – parent of a 2nd grade student, Kim Giang Primary School – shared that immediately after seeing the child showing signs of vomiting, she took the child to Bach Mai Hospital for examination˳

“According to the schedule announced by the school, on the afternoon of March 28, I went to pick up my son and found that he and some other friends had vomiting and diarrhea˳ Immediately, the school called a car to take the children to the hospital˳ We are currently waiting for the results of the exact cause,” Quyen said˳

Ms˳ Quyen also believes that the school’s organization of picnics for children to have the opportunity to interact with the outside is a meaningful program that can help develop children’s skills˳

“However, we hope that such trips need to be organized in a methodical manner, accompanied by medical staff to promptly deal with incidents,” Quyen said˳

What does a child’s lunch include?

More than 50 students with the same symptoms of vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain were transferred to the hospital: Bach Mai Hospital; Dong Da Hospital; Construction Hospital; Central Children’s Hospital; Saint Paul Hospital˳

Police of Thanh Xuan district (Hanoi) said that it is coordinating with functional forces to support students in emergency situations, then will conduct food samples for testing and check the cause of the incident˳

According to the latest report of the Food Safety Department of Hanoi, as of 12pm on March 29, all 73 students were hospitalized˳ Currently, 58 children have been discharged from the hospital and monitored at home, while 15 are continuing to receive treatment˳

According to the leader of the Hanoi Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department, the school signed a contract with the Green Star Food Joint Stock Company˳

The report of this company said: around 5:20 a˳m˳ on March 28, importing food materials, starting at 6 a˳m˳, processing at 8:00 a˳m˳, 9:45 a˳m˳, starting to transport food to the picnic area by car˳ specialized, in which food is preserved in stainless steel containers with lids and seals˳

At about 11am, the homeroom teacher divided meals among the students at the picnic area in the kindergarten˳ At 3:30 p˳m˳ on the same day, students returned to school and showed symptoms of vomiting and abdominal pain˳

Food samples were sent to the National Institute of Hygiene and Safety for testing˳
