Many people with high blood pressure, heart disease, and kidney disease are worried about eating salt that is harmful to the kidneys, so they switch to absolute bland food˳ So is this job really good?
According to Dr˳ Truong Hong Son – director of the Vietnam Institute of Applied Medicine, People with high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney disease think that it is wrong to eat completely bland, not to eat salt˳ Each patient will have a specific diet plan for each disease he or she has as recommended by the doctor˳
Nowadays, people are aware that eating salty foods will lead to many diseases˳ However, many people with high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney disease … are too abstinent, eating bland food is not good for health˳
Many people with kidney disease or high blood pressure due to excessive abstinence switch to an absolute bland diet, causing blood sodium levels to drop˳ The brain is the first organ affected when blood sodium drops below normal˳ Low sodium levels cause swelling of the brain parenchyma and even death˳
Hyponatremia causes symptoms of muscle fatigue, muscle paralysis, crawling sensation, and cramps˳ People with hyponatremia or swelling of hands, feet or whole body˳
According to Dr˳ Son, it is very important for patients to maintain a moderate diet, not too much salt or too little salt˳ To ensure health, the amount of salt to eat is no more than 5g salt / day (equivalent to 1 small teaspoon)˳
One meal should not exceed 2g of salt per person per day˳ The normal human body requires a minimum of 5g of salt per day as long as the salt is not lost through urine, sweat or other fluids˳
If a person eats less than 2˳4g of salt per day, it is not enough salt for the body˳
Dr˳ Truong Hong Son gives advice on the use of salt for each family˳ Each family now usually has 4 people, will eat a total of 8g salt/day x 30 days in a month = 240g salt˳
If each packet of salt has a weight of 200g, the recommended quantity is more than 1˳5 packs for the whole family/month and if the family has a saltier habit, the amount of salt should not exceed 2˳5 sachets˳ in a month˳
