Is sex medicine interested?

Recently, Hanoi Hospital for Male Studies and Infertility received a case where a female patient could not have sex after six years of marriage˳ Because of shyness and shame, even though it has been six years, the couple still have not come to the doctor˳

According to Dr˳ Pham Minh Ngoc – deputy director of the hospital’s Center for Sex Medicine, the patient was diagnosed with Vaginismus syndrome or vaginal spasms˳ This is an involuntary contraction of the pelvic floor muscles, preventing any movement into the vagina˳

“Once the patient’s problem was diagnosed, instead of taking interventions to get pregnant, we treated the vaginal spasm syndrome with the hope that Ms˳ H˳ could get pregnant naturally˳ After After three sessions of psychological consultation and therapy, the patient’s condition improved positively,” said Dr˳ Ngoc˳

According to Dr˳ Ngoc, most patients when having sexual problems are afraid to go to the doctor, only silently suffer, making the situation worse, leaving consequences for both reproduction and sex life, even life˳ married life of couples˳

In addition, many cases of infertility are not treated promptly because the husband does not cooperate, does not go to the hospital for examination, and the view that the failure to bear children is due to the woman˳

Dr˳ Phan Chi Thanh – chief of staff of the Training and Directing Center, National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology – shared that up to now, this view still exists, many men do not think they have fertility problems because they still have problems with fertility˳ have normal sex or only go to the doctor when the wife has been examined and has normal results˳

Female sexuality is still open

According to experts, sexual problems are a matter of both sexes˳ However, the fact that female sex is currently not being cared for, even if shared, will be considered not “righteous”˳

According to Dr˳ Thanh, due to the mechanism of action of the body and the specific characteristics of women, in case women do not have sexual needs or desires, they can still have sex˳ However, it is this condition that causes women to fall into a state of sexual dysfunction˳

“Although there have been many studies on female sexuality in the world, but due to Asian culture, sexual issues among women in Vietnam have not been paid much attention˳ Women are still shy when sharing with their partners˳ , also do not know where to visit˳ Prolonged time leads to both health and psychological effects,” said Dr˳ Thanh˳

Should go to the doctor soon

According to Dr˳ Ngoc, four common female sexual dysfunctions are arousal disorder, pain disorder, persistent genital arousal disorder and post-orgasm disease syndrome˳

According to a small survey conducted on 21 female patients who visited the Hanoi Hospital of Andrology and Infertility, up to 43% of women had a sexual dysfunction˳ There are 19% of women with two disorders at the same time, 14% with three disorders and up to 24% with all four disorders˳

“Women with sexual dysfunction can be treated with psychological measures, couple therapy, pharmacology… on a case by case basis˳ Women with sexual problems need to be visited˳ Early examination and treatment will bring higher efficiency,” said Dr˳ Ngoc˳

Need to pay more attention to sexual medicine

According to Dr˳ Nguyen Quang – director of the Center for Andrology of Viet Duc Hospital, chairman of the Vietnam Association of Sex Medicine, more attention should be paid to sex medicine, helping people understand the right role of gender health care˳ count˳ This is a broad field that includes issues of sexuality, pathophysiology, assisted reproduction…

In particular, in the current context of infertility is increasing not only in Vietnam but also in the world˳

According to Dr˳ Nguyen Anh Tu – director of the Center for Sex Medicine (Hanoi Hospital of Andrology and Infertility), some studies show that up to 40% of men in their 40s have erectile dysfunction˳ When men are 70 years old, this number rises to 70%˳ In women, an estimated 12% to 15% of women experience a decrease in libido˳
