Attending the conference “Evaluating the effectiveness and orientation of intensive medical development in Ho Chi Minh City” on the morning of June 17, Deputy Minister of Health of Ho Chi Minh City Tran Van Thuan said that Ho Chi Minh City is the “brightest spot”˳ of the country in terms of health care˳

He praised and acknowledged the city’s great achievements in protecting, taking care and improving people’s health over the years˳

Mr˳ Thuan said that Ho Chi Minh City had well implemented Resolution 20 and Resolution No˳ 21 of the 6th Conference, the 12th Central Executive Committee on strengthening the protection, care and improvement of people’s health in the coming time˳ new situation and population work in the new situation˳

On the occasion of the conference, Mr˳ Thuan wished that Ho Chi Minh City would well implement Resolution 31 of the Politburo on the direction and development tasks of the city until 2030, with a vision to 2045˳

At the same time, continue to invest in the development of modern, high-quality medical facilities on a regional level, aiming to become a specialized medical center of Southeast Asia through investment commensurate with the needs˳ specialized medical development˳

Ho Chi Minh City focuses on 6 key tasks

At the conference, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Phan Van Mai affirmed that the city’s leaders and the health sector will focus on implementing six key tasks to aim for the city’s health sector to become a center of care˳ ASEAN regional health:

The first: Focus on investing in perfecting the health system according to planning, especially specialized hospitals; There are policies to encourage investors in hospitals, attract private investment, foreign investment, etc˳

Completing policies, developing medical services and medical tourism in the coming time˳ At the same time, the city continues to promote supportive policies to build hospitals of international quality standards˳

Monday: Focus on training human resources in sufficient quantity, ensuring service quality in an intensive direction˳ The city proposes to the Ministry of Health to pay attention and standardize training quality programs and the city will have solutions to support improving the quality of training˳

Tuesday: Focus on implementing the city’s data strategy, which focuses on developing health data connectivity towards smart health development˳

Fourth letter: Issue policies to develop microbiological technology research and development activities, and encourage medical start-up projects˳ The city is completing the project of a microbiological pharmaceutical industrial park, as well as a medical innovation center…

Thursday: Proposing the Ministry of Health to improve the health network, both in diagnosis and treatment, and in medical resources˳

Private healthcare has developed strongly, many specialized medical techniques

Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan said Ho Chi Minh City has 66 private hospitals out of nearly 330 private hospitals nationwide, accounting for nearly 20%˳

The city’s private medical system has developed strongly with the number of outpatient and inpatient treatment reaching more than 7˳6 million in 2022, many specialized medical techniques applied in diagnosis, treatment and care˳ are invested and implemented successfully˳
